The widow to South Africa’s first president Nelson Mandela, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, born on 26 September 1936 had an early birthday party last week and it was glamorous. Her Xhosa name is Nomzamo which translates to ‘She who tries’ and the lady did that! She looked beautiful in her white and blue gown.
The guest list was very impressive with Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa, Cape Town mayor Patricia de Lille, musician Thandiswa Mazwai and musical couple Letta Mbulu and Caiphus Semenya. Julius Malema also attended and looked dashing in his tailored suit. Winnie is also a South African activist and politician who has held multiple government positions and headed the African National Congress Women’s League. She gained a lot of love from the South African people and is an inspiration to many the world over. She celebrated at the posh Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel with many guests turning up to celebrate this inspiring lady, and the party goes on, multi-award winning vocalist Thandiswa Mazwai is set to perform at the Artscape in honor of Winnie later this week.
